Day 2: November 9, 2011: Phthalates are lubricants and they help perfumes last longer There are also many different types of phthalates, at least 25 of them! The most basic one (Dimethyl phthalate) is made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
Day 3: November 10, 2011: Today, we learned about dimethyl phthalate's physical properties. These include density, appearance, and boiling and melting points. According to EPA, phthalates are a possible carcinogen.
Day 4: November 14, 2011: Phthalates are found in many children's toys. Also, several companies have products which are phthalate-free. This includes Burt's Bees and California Baby.
Day 5: November 15, 2011: Phthalates cause damage to the thyroid, male genitalia, and cause asthma. You can take many steps to protect yourself that all work towards one goal and result: your health and abstention from toxic, in particular, phthalates.
